Privacy Policy

This Application is intended as an Ad Supported app. This Application is provided by TheTestSpecimen at no cost and is intended for use as is.

This page is used to inform website visitors and/or This Applications users regarding my policies with the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information if anyone decided to use This Application.

The Personal Information that I collect is used to ensure This Application can function as intended, and to ensure that I can provide improvements to the user experience. Your Personal Information will not be shared with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.

This Application requests certain permissions from Users that allow it to access the User's device Data as described below.

Device permissions for Personal Data access (This Application)

This Application may request certain permissions from Users that allow it to access the User's device Data as summarised here and described within this document.

Depending on the User's specific device, this Application may request certain permissions that allow it to access the User's device Data as described below.

By default, these permissions must be granted by the User before the respective information can be accessed. Once the permission has been given, it can be revoked by the User at any time. In order to revoke these permissions, Users may refer to the device settings or contact the Owner for support at the contact details provided in the present document.

The exact procedure for controlling app permissions may be dependent on the User's device and software.

Please note that the revoking of such permissions might impact the proper functioning of this Application.

If the User grants any of the permissions listed below, the respective Personal Data may be processed (i.e accessed, modified or removed) by This Application.

Permissions that may be requested: Storage permission.

Reason: This Application has the ability to save maps, in the form of a picture, to the storage of your phone. This allows the User to retain and/or share the information as required.

Advertising

This type of service allows User Data to be utilised for advertising communication purposes displayed in the form of banners in This Application.

This Application utilises AdMob which is an advertising service provided by AdMob Google Inc. In order to understand Google's use of Data, consult Google's partner policy.

Place of processing: US – Privacy PolicyOpt Out

In addition to any opt out offered by AdMob, the User may opt out of a third-party service's use of cookies by visiting the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.

There are basically two types of advertising that can be provided by AdMob:

Personalised Ads will use the behavioral retargeting technique, i.e. displaying ads tailored to the User’s interests and behavior, including those detected outside This Application. For more information, please check the privacy policies of AdMob.

Personal Data: Ad identifiers, unique device identifiers for advertising (Google Advertiser ID or IDFA, for example) and Usage Data.

Non-personalised Ads are ads that are not based on a user’s past behavior. They are targeted using contextual information, including coarse (such as city-level) geo-targeting based on current location, and content of the app. Google disallows all personalized targeting, including demographic targeting and user list targeting. Although non-personalized ads don’t use mobile ad identifiers for ad targeting, they do still use mobile ad identifiers for frequency capping, aggregated ad reporting, and to combat fraud and abuse. Personal Data: Ad identifiers, coarse location and Usage Data.

Analytics

This Application uses analytics (usage data) in order to understand how users engage with This Application. This provides information of how This Application can be improved. When you use This Application your device automatically sends certain information to our analytics partner Google Analytics. The information gathered includes, for example, the device type, the session length, and interactions with various user interface elements.

The analytics data collected is anonymous and does not include personal data. A random unique identifier which does not contain any personal information is generated on initialisation of analytics.

Google Analytics is a web analysis service provided by Google Inc. (“Google”). Google utilises the Data collected to track and examine the use of This Application, to prepare reports on its activities and share them with other Google services.

Google may use the Data collected to contextualise and personalise the ads of its own advertising network, if applicable (i.e. if you have allowed personalised advertising).

Please note: This Website also utilises Google Analytics for the same reasons as stated above. The main difference is that Cookies will be used instead of unique identifiers.

Personal Data collected: Unique identifier, Cookies and Usage Data.

Google Sign-in

This Application utilises sign-in flow using Google Sign-in. This method of sign-in has been chosen to ensure that you can take advantage of enhanced features such as data backup and restore whilst utilising a tried and tested secure login process.

Using this method This Application will never have access to your account password in any form. The information provided by Google Sign-in to This Application is detailed in the relevant section below.

This Application utilises third party services that provide data to be displayed in This Application. Each service requires a key to be provided to prove that This Application has legitimate access to the data provided by the service. To ensure the services’s key is only used by This Application the key is stored only on The Server, not within This Application. This therefore requires a secure and checkable interaction between This Application and The Server. Google Sign-in provides this ability, and is therefore essential for This application to function properly and securely.

Types of Data collected

This Application will retain the following information for the purposes of account creation, data backup and to ensure compliance with relevant international laws:

Google User ID (mandatory for app functionality)

This is used to associate saved data with a specific user. This is necessary both for the local database stored on the phone, and for The Server which keeps a backup of This Applications data and settings.

Email Address (mandatory for compliance with international laws)

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requires that users are notified of any data breaches promptly (within 72 hours). The email address will therefore be used for this purpose, and this purpose only, unless permission for other uses is explicitly provided by The User.

The display name would be used in the sidebar of This Application to show The User who is logged in. This is preferable to improve the user interface, but not essential, and so will be optional.

Profile Picture (optional)

The Profile Picture would be used in the sidebar of This Application to show The User who is logged in. This is preferable to improve the user interface, but not essential, and so will be optional.

The Personal Data may be freely provided by the User, or, in case of Usage Data, collected automatically when using this Application.

All Data requested by this Application is mandatory and failure to provide this Data may make it impossible for this Application to provide its services. In cases where this Application specifically states that some Data is not mandatory, Users are free not to communicate this Data without any consequences on the availability or the functioning of the service.

Users who are uncertain about which Personal Data is mandatory are welcome to contact the Owner.

Any use of Cookies – or of other tracking tools – by this Application or by the owners of third-party services used by this Application serves the purpose of providing the service required by the User, in addition to any other purposes described in the present document and in the Cookie Policy, if available.

Users are responsible for any third-party Personal Data obtained, published or shared through this Application and confirm that they have the third party's consent to provide the Data to the Owner.

Mode and place of processing the Data

Methods of processing

The Data Controller processes the Data of Users in a proper manner and shall take appropriate security measures to prevent unauthorized access, disclosure, modification, or unauthorized destruction of the Data.

The Data processing is carried out using computers and/or IT enabled tools, following organisational procedures and modes strictly related to the purposes indicated. In addition to the Data Controller, in some cases, the Data may be accessible to certain types of persons in charge, involved with the operation of the site (administration, sales, marketing, legal, system administration) or external parties (such as third-party technical service providers, mail carriers, hosting providers, IT companies, communications agencies) appointed, if necessary, as Data Processors by the Owner. The updated list of these parties may be requested from the Data Controller at any time.

The use of the collected Data

The Data concerning the User is collected to allow the Owner to provide its services, as well as for the following purposes: Device permissions for Personal Data access, advertising, analytics and crash reporting.

The Personal Data used for each purpose is outlined in the specific sections of this document.

Data Deletion

You can at any time request that all Personal Data is removed. This Application includes a Delete Account feature in the settings menu that will automatically delete all of the User’s data both on your device and on the server, and disassociate This Application from Google Signin so no further data can be retrieved without further consent.

As part of the maintenance of the server which stores the data, regular backups are made to ensure that data can be retrieved should an error occur with the server. This will of course contain Personal Data. The regular backup schedule has backups taken daily, which are retained for up to one month, after which they are destroyed.

There are instances where a backup will be taken outside of the regular schedule. In this case it may be the case that the backup is held until its usage is no longer likely to be required. It is therefore not possible to state an exact length of retention of the backup in these circumstances. However, backups will only be retained longer than one month where absolutely necessary.

It can therefore be expected that upon request of data deletion, all Personal Data will be removed from the live version of the server and This Application immediately, and from backups within one month in most cases.

Any data retained by third party services used by This Application is outside the direct control of This Application, and requests should be made to the appropriate third party services for data removal. All third party services used by This Application are detailed within this document.

Requests should be sent to the Data Controller at the contact information set out within this document.

This Application does not support “Do Not Track” requests.

To determine whether any of the third-party services it uses honor the “Do Not Track” requests, please read their privacy policies.
